Brokers Ireland President, Mark Nugent Appointed to BIPAR Steering Committee

We are delighted to announce that Brokers Ireland President, Mark Nugent, was elected last week to the Steering Committee of BIPAR – the European Federation of Insurance Intermediaries representing over 47 Broker associations across Europe.

Mark’s election to BIPAR’s Steering Committee, highlights the growing influence of European regulation on Brokers and reinforces Brokers Ireland commitment to working closely with our European peers to protect and advance members interests.

For example, over the past two years, Brokers Ireland and BIPAR have worked tirelessly to ensure the EU’s Retail Investment Strategy does not impose a commission ban or unnecessary restrictions on commission-based advice. Both Brokers Ireland and BIPAR firmly believe consumers should have the freedom to choose between paying by fee or commission, allowing the market to determine optimal outcomes

Mark has served on Brokers Ireland, Legislation & Compliance Committee since 2013 and has been a Board Director since 2020 and currently serves as President of Brokers Ireland.

Commenting on his election to the BIPAR Steering Committee, Mark said ‘I am honored to join the BIPAR Steering Committee and represent Brokers Ireland at a European level.
